Leather Handcuff Bracelet

It should come as no surprise that somebody who’s into D/s might also be into working leather. What might surprise you is that, while I started the hobby after getting into D/s, I’ve never really gone out of my way to make bondage gear or implements. I’ve made a couple of paddles, but mostly I tool and carve and stitch to relax, or make functional things I need like phone cases and key fobs. In fact the most recent thing I made was a special splint for an injured finger when I discovered that nobody in town had one in the shape I needed.

Last week in chat over at The SafeworD/s Club, SassyMagpie mentioned a cool bracelet idea. She said her friend (shoutout to Sir_Wieland!) makes them. You wear it like a heavy leather bracelet, but at any time you can split it apart, fold it over, and turn it into a pair of handcuffs.

I was… intrigued. I had to make one!

They say you should never apologize for your art so I’m not going to. This was an experiment and all I can see are the flaws in my approach to Sir_Weiland’s design and the mistakes I made in construction. But if you don’t see them, I’m not going to ruin your enjoyment. Without further ado, here are the pics.

The design of the bracelet is simple: a long wide strap with a split down the middle, and two snaps at the ends. I carved a rose design on it to see if a pattern spanning both straps would still look good when the straps were together.

It was drying on the rack, almost done, at the start of chat and partway through I told everyone I was taking Beth outside to model it so I could take pictures.

Here’s my lovely wife, sub, assistant, and now hand-model,ย StillBeth.

And now for the view you’ve been waiting for… let’s see them in action:

I was pretty nervous about showing this to folks in chat, but I needn’t have gotten my ego so worked up about it. Beth’s Little friends saw these pictures and had the following to say:

  1. I guess MisterMan reallyย did take Beth out back to take pictures!
  2. OMG BETH HAS CUTE KNEES!
  3. Hey, Beth keeps her phone in her left front pocket like me!

Ohhhh, Littles. You darlings have your priorities straight. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

If you have questions about the construction, please let me know. I don’t make leather crafts for money, but if you want the pattern or have a question about the construction, feel free to give me a holler. I learned a lot from this one and will probably make Beth another one in a completely different style soon. Either way if you want to make your own I’d be happy to pass along some of the lessons I learned with this one.

  1. The bracelet looks absolutely beautiful! I love the etching in the leather. It was the first thing I noticed. (Sorry Beth. Lol) I always love DIY/handmade kink projects. They mean so much more to me when we use them. Knowing the talent and passion that went into making them.

    • Thank you again for passing on the idea! It was nice to have an excuse to clean off my leather workbench after over a year away from the hobby. Well, aside from the splint I made a few weeks ago. It had stitching and snaps but that doesn’t require any of the “cool” tools from the workbench. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I have done leather craft since I was a boy (11 years old)! I haven’t done any since I moved into this house(2005) because I didn’t have a space. I have spent the last month making a space and hope to finish it over the next few months. So I might just be doing things again. I’d love to see your pattern. Might be an idea for us!!
